(Bass / Background Vocals)
Garry Nutt began his musical journey in the clubs of Philadelphia in the early 1980’s. Growing up on the sounds of Motown and the rock of the 1960’s and 1970’s gave Garry’s playing a swagger that is not found in many bass players. He has the ability to make the seamless transition from hard rock to the swing of early rock n’ roll, and this attribute helped land him the gig of playing bass for rock n’ roll legend Chubby Checker in 1983. After working with Checker for three years, recording, and playing more than 250 shows a year, Garry went on to work with many artists including touring with Jean Beauvoir, and then filing in for another Philly act, Cinderella and bassist Eric Brittingham, a spot that Garry would work in several times over the next decade.
In the meantime Garry would co-found Atco/Atlantic recording act Tangier, and record two albums, 1989’s Four Winds produced by Andy Johns, and 1991’s Stranded produced by John Purdell and Duane Baron. Tangier toured with the likes of Cinderella, White Lion, .38 Special, Yngwie Malmsteen, Winger, and Extreme. Many of the connections that Garry made on these tours would keep his phone ringing for years to come, including more touring with Cinderella, and touring with White Lion’s Mike Tramp during the late 90’s and early 2000.
Nutt has also worked with many of Southern Rock’s greats in bands like Southern Rock Legends and Skinny Molly which featured original members of Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Blackfoot. He has worked as a musical director with a theatrical production of The Who’s Tommy, and performed as the bassist for a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He has also been doing session work for Don Hughes Music starting in 1998 to the present recording for soundtracks, jingles, and promotional pieces for Disney, Toyota, Heineken, Taco Bell, and many more.
Garry has a very diverse background, and continues to work because of his professional attitude and presence, and his raw musical talent.
